A lovely testimonial from CTLA supporters Marilyn and Patrick as to why they decided to ‘stay on board’ with a legacy for CTLA Community Transport.
“My husband and I recently updated our wills, as our original ones were made over 30 years ago which gave custody of our children (who are currently 46 and 42 years old) to my sister!! I bet she is pleased we survived until now!!
In our current wills we have left a legacy to CTLA Community Transport. When my father had to stop driving, my parents were lucky that they had us to drive them around, but others are not so fortunate.
Our reasons for leaving a legacy to CTLA Community Transport is that we are aware that there are so many people who rely on this vital service to help them in their everyday life to shop, visit relatives and friends, enjoy outings and much more. Without CTLA Community Transport, they would need to rely on taxis and the goodwill of friends to drive them around, which can be expensive or make them feel guilty about asking. The service they offer not only helps them with shopping, perhaps once a week, but also prevents isolation and loneliness to vulnerable people and those who live alone.
I would just like to say that if you are writing or updating a will, a legacy to CTLA Community Transport, however small, would go a long way to help keep this vital service running, and who knows, if we get to the point of not being able to drive ourselves, we may well rely on the services of the last remaining accessible transport charity in the District to help us in our everyday lives.”
