In July 2015, Westminster’s 650 Members of Parliament were awarded a 10% automatic payrise from the government’s independent watchdog.
Lewes MP Maria Caulfield pledged to give her increase to local charities. She said: “I decided I didn’t want to accept the pay rise, especially with colleagues in the public sector, where I came from, only getting 1 per cent.”
Maria invited local charities to apply for funds and CTLA are delighted to have been confirmed as one of the recipients of her offer with a donation of £200 towards our charitable work.
On behalf of the hundreds of beneficiaries of the services CTLA provides in the Lewes District, we would like to thank Maria for her kind gesture of support.
