The Counihan family of Northdown Road, Newhaven, raised £500 for CTLA Community Transport charity from the donations bucket outside their house during December.
Caroline and Dave Counihan, along with sons Andrew and Adam, have created a winter wonderland in their front garden for several years for their 9 year old son, Alex, who is a wheelchair user with visual impairments. The decorations are all handcrafted by Dave and Caroline’s father, Freddie.
In the first week of the display, the collections bucket was stolen along with the evenings donations and a replacement bucket was secured with more padlocks and a stronger chain.
CTLA General Manager, Paul Homewood, praised the Counihan family and the generosity of the public. “As the last remaining accessible transport charity covering the District, for people unable to use public transport, the money raised by our supporters is vital in keeping lives moving. We reduce isolation and loneliness in our community and appreciate every donation.”
