Group and Club Hire

By confirming your booking with Community Transport for the Lewes Area (CTLA) you indicate acceptance and understanding of the following Terms and Conditions of use and to becoming a member of CTLA. You consent to CTLA holding the information given on file and that this information will NOT be shared with any other organisations.

Our group hire is only available to non-profit making community and voluntary groups as well as individual users who are unable to access public transport due to limited mobility or disability. CTLA requires all groups or individual users to be registered with CTLA prior to transport.  CTLA’s minibuses cannot be hired for activities (or as part of activities) which are profit making. If a Group has their own nominated driver, all drivers must be registered with CTLA and have completed the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS) prior to hire.

• Bookings, including regular bookings are subject to vehicle and driver availability and are at CTLA’s discretion.

• Consideration should be given to collection times as keeping a vehicle longer than the pre booked time could render the Hirer liable to financial (or other) penalties.provisional until confirmation in writing is received.
• It is the Hirer’s responsibility to provide CTLA with correct details of passengers requiring wheelchairs and/or mobility aids. Please note that a safety  assessment may be required on any wheelchairs or scooters prior to travel.
• Cancellations received with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to the full cost. Cancellations received less than 7 days’ notice are subject to 50% of the cost and all other cancellations are subject to an administration cost of £15.00.

• CTLA drivers hold an enhanced DBS and have completed the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS); in addition 6 monthly independent inspections are made of their driving licences.
• CTLA ensures that all of their drivers adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults’ policy.
• It is the Hirers responsibility to assess each passenger’s ability to use the steps or passenger lift when boarding or alighting the minibus. Similarly it is the Hirers responsibility to assess each passenger’s ability to transfer safely from a wheelchair to a seat.
• Passengers that are unable to transfer to a seat must have a suitable headrest attached to their wheelchair throughout the journey.
• Seat belts are to be worn at all time when the engine is switched on, it is compulsory when the vehicle is moving, unless a medical exemption is held.
• Young children are required to use the appropriate seating; CTLA does not provide baby carriers, child seats or boosters.
• A Passenger Assistant is desirable if children or other vulnerable passengers are to be carried, CTLA is unable to offer a Passenger Assistant for Group Hire.
• CTLA reserves the right to refuse an “own driver” booking if a suitable Passenger Assistant is not provided by the Hirer.
• As CTLA’s representative, our driver has the right to make their own determination about the use of steps or a passenger lift and similarly about a transfer to and from a seat if they believe the passenger’s safety has been compromised by the Hirers assessment.
• All passengers agree to follow CTLA’s drivers instruction to ensure their safety and that of fellow passengers.
• CTLA is not liable for any personal injury whilst travelling on or alighting the vehicle.
