Lewes Dial-a-Ride
Dial-a-Ride is a door to door transport service for people living in the Lewes area who find it difficult to use ordinary bus services.
We operate on Tuesdays and Fridays and use vehicles which provides easy access for passengers – including people who need to travel in their wheelchairs.
Lewes Dial-a-Ride can be used by anybody who has difficulty in accessing public transport. Holders of National Bus Pass are automatically eligible.
A companion may accompany you if you need assistance, and will travel at the same rate as Dial-a-Ride members.
In order to use the scheme you need to register for free membership.
As from 19th March 2012 the Dial-A-ride will operate 5 day’s a week.
Prices
Dial-a-Ride operates on Tuesdays and Fridays in the area shown on the map.
- On Tuesdays, villages between Newick and Lewes bordering on the A275 will be served.
- On Fridays, residents of the Ringmer area may book the Dial-a-Ride.
- Residents of Lewes may use the Dial-a-Ride on Tuesday or Fridays.
You will usually be picked up as the bus travels in from an outlying area. The time for this can vary, but would normally be after9:30. Return journeys from Lewes usually leave around 1300 both to addresses in Lewes and further afield.
Journeys on school-days can be booked from 1000 until 1400. On non school-days journeys may be able to start earlier and finish later.
If you would like to use Lewes Dial-a-Ride, please register with Community Transport for the Lewes Area using the online form. Once registered, you can then ring between 0800 and 1600, Monday to Friday, to book a journey.
Telephone bookings should be made at least the day before you want to travel, but cannot be accepted more than five days in advance.
Remember to book a return journey at the same time if required.
Bookings are accepted on a first come first served basis.
