A unanimous vote at the full Lewes District Council (LDC) meeting on the 14th October has given the green light for community transport charity CTLA to co-ordinate a working party which will discuss common issues of providing community led transportation support in the District.
By meeting transport needs that public transport leaves unmet, CTLA and similar organisations address social isolation and loneliness and contribute to the improvement of health and wellbeing of Lewes District residents.
The first meeting of the working party, which will involve Councillors from all levels of local authorities and other stakeholders, will be in January at the Hillcrest Centre, Newhaven and the opening address will be given by Lewes MP, Maria Caulfield, and Councillor Stephen Gauntlett, who brought the motion to LDC.
